Reading Clinicians are specialists in the areas of literacy and learning. They are teachers who hold certification as Reading Clinicians in Manitoba. Certification requires a Master of Education degree and specific courses in clinical reading, literacy, and learning. They provide school-based supports and interventions for students experiencing significant literacy-learning difficulties.
Reading Clinicians collaborate with school-based teams to provide:
- Assessment: Identify strengths and needs for learning and related processes specific to students experiencing significant literacy-learning difficulties
- Intervention: Provide recommendations and strategies to improve literacy learning and achievement
- Consultation: Collaborate with school teams to support targeted school-based literacy programming
- Professional Development: Provide in-service and training to staff, parents and other professionals
